The figure of Sinterklaas<\/strong><\/em>known as Saint Nicholas<\/strong> in English, has its roots in medieval Europe. Saint Nicholas was a bishop of the region of Myra (present-day Turkey) during the 4th century, famous for his generosity and miracles, especially related to children. Over time, his story merged with pagan traditions and gave rise to the figure of Sinterklaas that we know today. <\/p>\n

In the Netherlands, Sinterklaas travels from Spain on a steamship accompanied by his helpers, known as Pieten<\/strong>. This arrival marks the beginning of weeks of celebration, filled with sweets, gifts and traditional songs. <\/p>\n
